Hugo Chavez: A Danger To Colombia

0

Posted on : 06-03-2010 | By : admin

Hugo Chavez, president and dictator of Venezuela, claims to be the reincarnation of Simon Bolivar, the liberator of a large swath of  South America in the 19th century. His pseudo-socialist Bolivarian revolution aims to restore the glory of the Gran Colombia, a republic which briefly encompassed present day Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama as well as parts of other countries. Chavez has repeatedly said that Venezuela and Colombia are one country.

Soon came the revelation that Chavez and his accomplices, Ecuador’s president Rafael Correa and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega, had concocted a plan to invade Colombia from three sides. Ecuador would enter from the south, Nicaragua via the Caribbean, and Venezuela from the east. The plan, code-named Guaicaipuro, aimed to quickly encircle Bogota, Colombia’s capital, and topple president Alvaro Uribe’s government. FARC, the main Colombian rebel group was also enlisted for the attack, and would  likely have participated in a new regional government.  It’s been demonstrated beyond any doubt that Venezuela and Ecuador actively supported the FARC, supplying them with arms and important sums of money, as well as guaranteeing them safe passage through their territories.

Guaicaipuro is no longer a viable invasion plan since one of its key participants, Ecuador, has mysteriously done an about face and dropped its hostile policy towards Colombia and is no longer echoing Chavez’ demented rhetoric. I say “mysteriously” but the probable scenario is that president Correa was persuaded to change course by the threat that a mountain of evidence implicating him with the FARC, and possibly other scandals, would be publicized if he didn’t change course. A lot of the evidence in question could have come from the many computers found in FARC encampments captured by Colombian armed forces (with covert US assistance), including one inside Ecuador.

That one plan is dead doesn’t mean that  there isn’t another either already hatched or on the drawing board. Chavez has been making major purchases to refurbish his military, using the country’s abundant petrodollars, and has consistently sought to provoke an incident along Venezuela’s border with Colombia. At one point, he even announced that his country was preparing for war with its neighbor. Chavez poses a grave danger to regional stability and particularly to Colombia, and whether his grip on Venezuela strengthens or weakens, the threat remains very real. It’s very plausible to envision Chavez using his favorite scapegoat, Colombia, to distract public attention from the disastrous policies at home. Inventing a Colombian-American attack against Venezuelan territory sounds ludicrous, but history is full of fabricated wars, and history does tend to repeat itself! Add to that the very eccentric nature of Chavez, the man who told the world he admires Idi Amin Dada, the dictator who terrorized Uganda for 8 years, and Carlos the Jackal, the 1970’s  international terrorist, and has made alliances with rogue state Iran as well as Russia.

As the United States’ most important ally in South America, Colombia feels more secure in the shadow of the world’s largest military, as its own forces are woefully unprepared for a full scale armed conflict. One of the most dissuasive tactics used by Colombia against its belligerent neighbor has been the recent treaty with the USA, authorizing them to use seven military bases deep inside its territory. Recently, a leak revealed the treaty as a subterfuge which Colombia demanded from Washington in order to create the illusion of a tight military association. The reality is that should Venezuela do the unthinkable and invade Colombian soil, it is by no means certain that US troops would intervene directly. The US is busy with two costly and unpopular conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as wrestling with the aftermath of the worst recession in 60 years,  thus starting another war would probably not win many votes. This doesn’t preclude a “remote control”  intervention via the air and sea, a military policy that was used effectively during the Clinton administration.

Hugo Chavez isn’t going away and he’s ready to destroy his country and  the entire region as well before ceding any power. US congress voting to place Venezuela on the list of states sponsoring terrorism was a necessary and correct move, but it won’t do much to change history: the US may eventually have no choice but to launch a full scale war in its backyard if this strongman isn’t stopped soon. The sense we have  here, within Colombia, is one of a clear and present danger.

Lito Atienza 2010: Manila Needs Her Mayor Back

Posted on : 05-03-2010 | By : admin

The Manila Elections has become more exciting and captivating as a lot of political heavyweights have thrown their hats into the battle of becoming the all powerful Mayor of Manila. Among these political heavyweights who joined the mayoralty battle for the city is former Mayor of Manila and DENR Secretary Lito Atienza and his Lito Atienza 2010 platform.Under his banner Lito Atienza 2010, the former Mayor of Manila is staging a comeback bid at the mayoralty seat after serving a full term as City Mayor and a brief stint as DENR secretary.

The former Mayor of Manila who holds the record as the only mayor who has served a full term, is one of the most well-loved leaders in the city’s rich political history. Atienza has years of experience in public service, political will, wisdom, leadership stature and proven and unblemished track record which makes him one of the anticipated and probable winner in this coming Manila Elections. His resume can present volumes of achievements and innumerable completed projects that have benefited the city residents particularly those who are impoverished. His political career spanning for more than four decades now is a clear indication on how the former Mayor of Manila has lived his life as a statesman, serving selflessly for the people.

Atienza’s early political career began in 1968 as the leader of Democratic Youth Movement, (DEYMO) wherein he became one of those who survived the infamous Plaza Miranda bombing during the Liberal Party’s political rally in 1971.Since then, the former Mayor of Manila had been a staunch critic of the Marcos administration. When the country was under the Martial Law, Atienza was arrested for his role as the leader of Metro Manila Jeepney Drivers Organization, which was the first ever organization of Jeepney Drivers. Atienza fought against and exposed several human abuses of the Marcos regime including the proposed eradication of jeepneys plying the avenues of Metro Manila as part of Imelda Marcos’ beautification drive.

Despite voicing out his dissatisfaction with the Marcos administration, Atienza held the position as Barangay Captain for ten years after serving as a tanod before which enabled him to hear the voices of ordinary people more. The former Mayor of Manila later served as at the Information Office of Manila City Hall under former mayor Ramon Bagatsing and later resigned due to conflict of principles and his work. Atienza would later decide on embarking on a bold journey as he seek a Parliamentary seat despite having no financial support at all.Instead, Atienza relied on his principles and support from his family and friends which were enough to win him a seat in the Parliament at that time.

His profession as a Parliamentary member of the Batasang Pambansa started in 1984, representing the then vast Congressional District of Manila which include the districts of Paco, Pandacan, San Andres Bukid, Sta. Ana, Santa Mesa. He was known as an active supporter of Sen. Ninoy Aquino and one of the opposition stalwarts who convinced Cory Aquino to run for president. After Marcos was deposed during the People Power Revolution of 1986, the former Mayor of Manila was selected to organize the National Housing Authority where he promoted affordable housing for teachers and policemen. After a brief career at the NHA as General Manger, Atienza opted to join the 1988 mayoralty race of Manila where he lost to his then rival Mel Lopez who was supported by President Aquino.Despite the loss, his spirit and will to serve was never defeated as he would later run and win as Vice-Mayor in 1992 and 1995.

In 1998 Manila Elections, Atienza finally won mayoralty seat and placed his name in history as the only Vice Mayor who got elected as city mayor As the Mayor of Manila. Atienza was renowned for expressing his strong opposition in the reclamation of the city’s part of Roxas Boulevard/Manila Bay. The former Mayor of Manila was also able to improve and beautify much of entire city’s former tourist attractions along with the lives and welfare of the city folks. Atienza also devised major projects which were aimed to benefit the poor, the older citizens, women and children.

After serving full term as Manila Mayor, Atienza would later serve as the DENR secretary under President Arroyo. As DENR secretary, Atienza started massive effort to execute the ill- executed Clean Air Act. Atienza also focused on giving a new life to the country’s rivers and lakes, partnering with several environment groups including the Laguna Lake Development Authority and ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan. He has also ordered the crackdown on illegal logging operations in the countryside and has also ordered the closures of open dumpsites as part of his drive in protecting our country’s natural resources.

The Manila Elections is vital since the winner would hold power to the nation’s capital. Former Mayor of Manila Lito Atienza deserves to win another term as city mayor due to his outstanding achievements as a public servant and his vast experience and knowledge on being a true statesman who works for the greater good of people. Under his Lito Atienza 2010 banner, Atienza is the most competent and well-loved leaders of the city which makes him a formidable mayoralty bet.

Lito Atienza has become one of the major pillars and most influential names of Philippine politics. The elections for Manila mayor would certainly be a half-baked race if it did not include an option such as him.

Italian President Concerned About Geert Wilder Victory

President Napolitano said: “Beware the parties that want to go back” The victory of anti-European forces in the Netherlands is an “anachronistic and dangerous illusion,” although it is “a tendency outside of history and out of reality.” Giorgio Napolitano, Italian President and “former Communist” said after meeting with European Parliament President Buzek. According to Napolitano is “impossible to ignore what has changed in the European reality”.

We are instead concerned of the President statement, which completely ignores or pretend to ignore that Islamization in Europe is slowly continuing, thanks to the appeasement of members of the cultural world of so-called liberals or better say communists.

That said, we are particularly happy of the Dutch people decision to stop Islamic immigration and start a review of the overall EU agreement, which we wish to collapse s soon as possible as founded only on monetary agreement and not to an organic and spiritual view.

The Italian President in its gentleman allure prefers not to look at reality demanding not to, turning back, while rediscovering its social-communist roots and the desire to encourage a slow destruction of the hated capitalist Europe. His attitude is perfectly conformed to the political correctness of the leftist.

These old communists who still keep in the heart the plan to seize power at all costs, fail to understand that they will be first to be destroyed, with our great delight, considering that Islam cannot accept atheism.

The Italian “former communist” President is the right example of the Nihilism as a principle of non-judgment which erases all laws of God.

I suggest Ahmadinejad to invite Italian President at the Army Parade, as he has found him quite a good ally and a tender support to the needs of the poor oppressed Muslims in Europe.

Please Mr. Napolitano give a look to the history and try to understand where leftists like you are pushed Europe; in the hands of the Islamic terror.

Is Capitalism Permanent ?

0

Posted on : 04-03-2010 | By : admin

Marxism, as a theory and practicable task and goal for many states and its people, holding it in the hands in millions all over the world like a torch to quell the darkness of the poverty from their lives, marched years together with a hope for the liberation from all the problems they have in their lives for the socialism, now the majority of the people have been desisted it and do not like even to utter it in their daily lives in recent years after the failures in USSR, in CHINA. As a result the USA has emerged the single strongest state to rule the world in its own way what it thinks fit on the different names, world peace or war on terror. At the same time the USA itself is now under economic depression and striving to recover from recession and going to loose its legacy in coming years in the hands of new states in the same way of open market and global reforms. The same kind of the treatment what it has given to the other states in its past history after its independence, is going to receive in the same way. Now it has already started such wounds to its body to receive from others. The history has so many such instances of rise and decline of the dynasties in the world from the biblical period to the present conditions. So here one question is in the minds of millions of the people globally that the capitalism is the only stable state of condition of the world states irrespective of considering their development to the level of capitalist societies the present developing countries. And has it no further progress of the social states from capitalism to socialism? Is the socialism dead? Is capitalism permanent state of social condition of state? The capitalism may have three or four types in its execution and in its administration in the world. And some people are still waging the wars in their states in some specific pockets on the hope that they achieve the socialism and their people will get some relief from their problems through the philosophy of Marxism and its other extended philosophies of Leninism and Maoism. So are these philosophies still have the worth and validity as philosophies in these days to achieve the greatest task of socialism? Where have the mistakes in application of them to the present societies? Whether in practice or in its theory? So let us start the process of re-examination of Marxism so as to save it from the dying state and before it has been erased from the list of living philosophies of the world, without considering the criticisms from the same circles who would call it revisionism.

Texas Independence Day celebrates the adoption of the state’s independence declaration. It is an annual legal holiday in Texas, in the United States, on March 2. March 2 also marks Texas Flag Day and Sam Houston Day, although these are special observances rather than legal holidays.

What do people do?

Texas Independence Day celebrations are held in many cities and towns throughout the state. The day is celebrated by festivals that include children’s activities, re-enactments, band music, and chili cook-offs. Other activities include story-telling sessions about how Texas won its independence from Mexico and became a republic during the 19th century.

Some state government workers may choose to have a day off on Texas Independence Day as it is a partial staffing day. Many schools have classroom lessons and activities about the Texas Declaration of Independence during this time of the year.

Public life

Texas Independence Day is a partial staffing day in Texas however state offices are scheduled to be open on partial staffing holidays. They will not be closed on another day when designated holidays fall on a Saturday or Sunday.  Those travelling to places where festivals and large-scale celebrations are held may need to check with the relevant authorities about traffic and parking conditions in these areas.

Background

Texas Independence Day commemorates the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March 2, 1836. This event marked Texas’ independence from Mexico. Sixty delegates from all over Texas signed the declaration. Its language in many ways parallels the 1776 Declaration of Independence of the United States, which is observed on Independence Day, also known as “the fourth of July”.

The Republic of Texas was annexed to the US by joint resolution of the US Congress nine years after the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed.  The US Congress then admitted Texas as a constituent state of the Union on December 29, 1845. Texas Independence Day is an official holiday in Texas. Sam Houston Day is also observed on March 2, marking the birthday of the man who led the Texans to victory over Mexican troops at the battle of San Jacinto.

Symbols

Texas’ Lone Star flag became the state’s official flag on January 24, 1839. It consists of a rectangle with a width to length ratio of two to three featuring:

A blue vertical stripe one-third the entire length of the flag wide, and two equal horizontal stripes, the upper stripe white, the lower red, each two-thirds the entire length of the flag long.
A white, regular five-pointed star in the center of the blue stripe, oriented so that one point faces upward, and of such a size that the diameter of a circle passing through the five points of the star is equal to three-fourths the width of the blue stripe.

Texas has various symbols such as the Bluebonnet (state flower), the Northern Mockingbird (state bird), and the horned lizard (state reptile).

State historic sites include the Casa Navarro in San Antonio, Texas. It was the home of Tejano patriot Jose Antonio Navarro, who was influential in the fight for Texas’ independence. Another important site is the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte, Texas, which is built on the actual battleground where Texas won its independence from Mexico.

Note: The above-mentioned symbols and historic sites are only a few mentioned in this article. Texas has more symbols and historic sites throughout the state.

On March 2, 1836, Texas severed ties with Mexico and became a free and independent republic. It was a short-lived country: a little less than 10 years later Texas joined the Union. As any Texan will tell you, though, that streak of independence still runs strong and deep through our second-largest state. And that’s something to celebrate wherever you find it.

Instructions

Step 1

Visit Washington-on-the-Brazos, where the Texas Independence Convention signed the Republic into being. It’s now a state park with state-of-the-art interactive exhibits open year round, with plenty of rousing events during the week of March 2.

Step 2

Travel to San Antonio and tour the Alamo.

Step 3

Watch “The Alamo” starring John Wayne as Davy Crockett.

Step 4

Throw a Happy Birthday Texas party. Suggest that guests come dressed as cowboys or Alamo freedom fighters; serve cowboy camp grub and Tex-Mex goodies, play songs about Texas and tell Texas jokes.
