New York Governor David Patterson In Trouble… Again

Democratic New York Governor David Patterson is under severe fire, even from those in his own party, as demands are increasing for him to resign because of two scandals that have blown up over the past two weeks. Patterson is facing allegations of both he and his staff interfering in the investigation of a domestic violence case that involved his top aide.

He was also charged by the state ethics panel of accepting World Series tickets from the New York Yankees last year despite a ban on gifts. The New York Governor was also accused of lying about the matter to the panel. In just one week Patterson suffered a dramatic fall in the polls from 61 percent to just 46 percent of New Yorkers saying that he should finish out his term. This current gubernatorial cycle has been devastating for the state.

Patterson became governor after Elliott Spitzer resigned in the winter of 2008 after being exposed as a frequent client of prostitutes. New York faces massive budget deficits and has been one of the states that has been hardest hit by the recession. It is argued that Patterson should resign because even if he is innocent the economy and budget deserve the full attention of the governor. The New York Public Interest Group stated that resignation should simply be based on whether or not the governor can do his job.

Patterson is not yet ready to give up, however. “I don’t have any plans to resign,” the governor said on Friday. “At a certain point, I will cooperate with the investigations and will be clearing my name.” Patterson also added that the constant media drumbeat about the situation as turned the public against him and that many of the stories being released are frivolous and not based in facts.

i get that patterson was/is bound to have a dreadful season, but the nationals are in no position to cut pitchers. for god's sake, odalis perez is cemented in their rotation. also, it's not like patterson was making that much money.

the mets would be all over signing him if he were hispanic. being that he's white, i see the cardinals in his future. but it doesn't make sense- el duque's radar gun readings are actually BELOW those of patterson this spring, and he's even more fragile, and makes probably at least 8 times as much as patterson. also, if brett fucking tomko can still make a rotation, why can't patty?

also, april, you were dead on back in the wily mo comments about this blogmaster making failed and awkward attempts at wit. it is in his nature. i personally hope slanch hasn't turned you off this blog completely.

CONTINUED:Supposedly to fight communism, thousands of buddhist protesters andmonks were imprisoned in “detention camps.” Out of protest dozens ofbuddhist teachers - male and female - and monks poured gasoline overthemselves and burned themselves. (Note that Buddhists burnedthemselves in comparison Christians tend to burn others). Meanwhilesome of the prison camps, which in the meantime were filled withProtestant and even Catholic protesters as well, had turned intono-nonsense death camps. It is estimated that during this period ofterror (1955-1960) at least 24,000 were wounded - mostly in streetriots - 80,000 people were executed, 275,000 had been detained ortortured, and about 500,000 were sent to concentration or detentioncamps. [MW76-89].To support this kind of government in the next decade thousands ofAmerican GI’s lost their life.*Christianity kills the catOn July 1, 1976, Anneliese Michel, a 23-year-old student of a teacherscollege in Germany, died she starved herself to death. For months shehad been haunted by demonic visions and apparitions, and for monthstwo Catholic priests - with explicit approval of the Catholic bishopof Würzburg - additionally pestered and tormented the wretched girlwith their exorcist rituals. After her death in Klingenberg hospital -her body was littered with wounds - her parents, both of themfanatical Catholics, were sentenced to six months for not havingcalled for medical help. None of the priests was punished on thecontrary, Miss Michel’s grave today is a place of pilgrimage andworship for a number of similarly faithful Catholics (in theseventeenth century Würzburg was notorious for it’s extensive witchburnings). This case is only the tip of an iceberg of such evil superstition andhas become known only because of its lethal outcome. [SP80]*Rwanda MassacresIn 1994 in the small african country of Rwanda in just a few monthsseveral hundred thousand civilians were butchered, apparently aconflict of the Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups. For quite some time I heard only rumours about Catholic clergyactively involved in the 1994 Rwanda massacres. Odd denials ofinvolvement were printed in Catholic church journals, before evenanybody had openly accused members of the church. Then, 10/10/96, in the newscast of S2 Aktuell, Germany - a station notat all critical to Christianity - the following was stated”Anglican as well as Catholic priests and nuns are suspect of havingactively participated in murders. Especially the conduct of a certainCatholic priest has been occupying the public mind in Rwanda’s capitalKigali for months. He was minister of the church of the Holy Familyand allegedly murdered Tutsis in the most brutal manner. He isreported to have accompanied marauding Hutu militia with a gun in hiscowl. In fact there has been a bloody slaughter of Tutsis seekingshelter in his parish. Even two years after the massacres manyCatholics refuse to set foot on the threshold of their church, becauseto them the participation of a certain part of the clergy in theslaughter is well established. There is almost no church in Rwandathat has not seen refugees - women, children, old - being brutallybutchered facing the crucifix.According to eyewitnesses clergymen gave away hiding Tutsis and turnedthem over to the machetes of the Hutu militia. In connection with these events again and again two Benedictine nunsare mentioned, both of whom have fled into a Belgian monastery in themeantime to avoid prosecution. According to survivors one of themcalled the Hutu killers and led them to several thousand people whohad sought shelter in her monastery. By force the doomed were drivenout of the churchyard and were murdered in the presence of the nunright in front of the gate. The other one is also reported to havedirectly cooperated with the murderers of the Hutu militia. In hercase again witnesses report that she watched the slaughtering ofpeople in cold blood and without showing response. She is even accusedof having procured some petrol used by the killers to set on fire andburn their victims alive…” [S2]*As can be seen from these events, to Christianity the Dark Ages nevercome to an end. 20th Century Terrorism by Christians opposed to doctorsMurdersIn the U.S., violence directed toward abortion providers has killed 7 people, including 3 doctors, 2 clinic employees, a security guard, and a clinic escort.[5]* March 10, 1993: Dr. David Gunn of Pensacola, Florida was fatally shot during a protest. It was on DVD for a while, but it’s out of print again. I had to steal my copy from a friend, who got it from Pizza Hut or something. I wonder if it will be released again when the Russell Brand remake comes out.

Well of course they mean banks like Swedbank who are their competitors, during the crisis it was speculated Swedbank would be in trouble because of its investment in the Baltic, nobody gave a rats ass if they would fail or not.

Cameron? You have to be joking. Gordon B, no way either, an even bigger joke. I remember being worried about Cameron in the first few weeks - I thought he had something different and I thought he would get in and I thought, bugger, labour won't get in next time, this man's clever (I am a Labour voter, or WAS) but that soon changed, I'm not sure what happened to him but maybe he just tried to please too many people, now he doesn't worry me at all, I see him as no threat at all to Labour. I think he really had a chance, and thankfully, he lost that chance. GB has to be replaced though or Labour will never get back in

HAHA!

Well done guys, why can’t I work on client’s who appreciate the need to shoot in NYC!

Simply the best Doctor of the original series. I should say He and David Tennant should do a dance off for all time rights.

The Governor of Arizona will call a special session of the Arizona State Legislature to pass a bill allowing the Governor to sue to overturn the mandate to purchase health insurance. The Governor was unable to convince Che' Goddard (AZ Attorney General Terry Goddard) to file the suit on behalf of the State of Arizona. After conferring with attorneys and counting votes, Governor Brewer will issue the Call to Special Session. This should be a quick special session, but your calls to the less-conservative Republicans couldn't hurt.
