What kind of game are you writing? Unless it’s something as fast as say Quake you may be able to get away with TCP. A lock-step RTS would be fine. Also be careful when writing an interface that tries to hide both TCP and UDP. You can use a single UDP socket to talk to everyone but need a separate TCP sockets. Also a big issue with TCP for games is the latency, this can be greatly relieved by disabling Nagle’s algorithm (search for the NODELAY socket option). Although you should buffer each frame’s network traffic and send it all at once if you do that so as not to send loads of little packets.

I dunno… I always felt so guilty about not being in touch, partially because I’m an only child and I also genuinely feel sorry for them. they also know how to break me down, quick. so combine until fluffy and you’ve got yourself a scrambled head. (”I’ll go back to Jan… and I hate Jan!”) one of the reasons I wanted to do this AMA is because I literally cut ties this morning. and after seeing this all spelled out, I can’t believe it took so long… I’ve helped other people on here with parents like mine! wtf? I think my mom always refused to press charges. I remember one time when I was young, they had me fill out a police report (I guess because they had been there so many times) and I distinctly remember my mom being mad at me for “telling them everything”. she got a restraining order after he trashed the house, but always came back to him. even with the affair and their lovely new neighbors. she’ll do anything to protect him. in high school, I remember he pushed me down and was sitting on me, hitting me, and I ended up with some faint bruising on my arms. I went to the school for help, but there couldn’t make the determination that he did it to me. yeah fuck em
