LA PORTE, IN - It’s not every day that students from rural Indiana receive an award signed by the president of the United States but Juniors: Ben Barber, Rachel Cable, Julia Garay, Victor Vargas and Sophomores: Martin Garcia, Vanessa Martinez, Brandi Morrow and Alan Spradlin all received President’s Volunteer Service Awards, signed by President Barack Obama. The awards, issued through The LEAGUE and presented by Vicki Perkins, Indiana State Director of The LEAGUE are the results of service hours the students performed to benefit the people in LaPorte, Indiana. The LEAGUE is a school and web-based system for service learning that builds character and empowers young people to “do good” in their community, the nation and the world, will be
This year the LPHS juniors received Gold Awards which account for over 250+ hours of volunteer time. The sophomores garnered Silver awards for 175-249 hours of service. Both groups helped the community through activities such as helping the La Porte Parks Department clean area parks. The students also painted park benches and cleaned the lakes of debris. These industrious teens also helped organized three blood drives; collected over 400 pairs of sandals/flip flops for children in the Middle East; and during the Holidays raised funds to adopt under privileged families. Those funds enabled them to purchase gifts and food. Those are just a few of the volunteer efforts these amazing students undertook this past year.
But this is not the first award signed by a U S president these students have received. At a LEAGUE event hosted by Queen Latifah and presented by Stephen Baldwin in New York City last year, Victor Vargas and Morgan Noble, on behalf of their class received awards signed by President George W. Bush. While the award was fulfilling, having their picture taken with Queen Latifah was thrilling.
At another LEAGUE event in New York, Barber, Cable, Garay, and Vargas were honored for being National High School Team Champions. MTV News Correspondent, SuChin Pak, presented the LPHS students their award for being National High School Team Champion.
In January of 2009 Hough, Spradlin, Vargas and their classmates: Joe Bierl, Kayla Fardulis, Julie Herbst, Kadie Hooley, Elisha Krauth, Abbey Light, Vanessa Martinez, Breland McMmillan, Kharson Nurnberg, Jessica Roberts and Shayna Shelton participated in Hey U G L Y’S global initiative to end racism called, the Hue-Man Being Art Project. Their artwork, selected by art experts, won the honor of being exhibited at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, Indiana and the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph Michigan. The exhibit, which is featured in the paperback - Hue-Man Kind A Book To End Racism, - will be on display at the Indiana State Capital building next spring. A New York film crew from Nickelodeon came to LPSH and filmed some of these young artists for a segment that aired on Nick News w/Linda Ellerbee during Black History Month earlier this year.
During the Hue-Man Being Art Project, Courtney Hough asked Hey U G L Y to add the words RACISM and HATE to their Acronym Contest which is annually judged by journalists from media like People Magazine and ABC TV. Serendipitously, Hough won first place in this year’s contest garnering a $500 U S Savings Bond for her conversion of RACISM to Remove All Color, I’m Simply Me. The Savings Bond was presented to Hough by Hey U G L Y president and co-founder, Betty Hoeffner from Rolling Prairie, Indiana. Hey U G L Y is a nonprofit organization that helps teens and pre-teens counter bullying, eating disorders, violences, substance abuse and suicide.
So what’s in the water at LPHS that’s got these students achieving so much? To ask the kids, Hey U G L Y and the LEAGUE it’s Mrs. Ingrid Voelker. Mrs., Voelker is Title 1 Transitional Coach at LPHS and facilitates G.B.O.T. (Get Back On Track), a program to assist seniors earn deficient credits in order to graduate on time.
“Mrs. Voelker makes school a fun place to be,” said Alex Allgower, a sophomore at LPHS.
“She helps us understand the importance of working hard, giving back and enjoying life,” explained Vargas.
The LEAGUE saluted Mrs. Voelker last year in New York as her team had an economic value returned to the La Porte community of over $99,468! Not bad for rural Indiana.

Awesome.
i thknk ppl going into 10
but not sure prob.
My ex-wife lost her job and instead of finding a temporary job to get by on the first thing she did was run out and apply for every handout she could find. Now the state is trying to garnish my wages for child support, which I pay in full and early directly to her every month per our divorce decree and can back with financial documentation, because they have to "insure" she is receiving the ordered support while she is getting handouts. The sad part is I've helped her with extra money during hard times, her new boyfriend is giving her money to cover bills, and other family has helped her financially so there is really no reason to be on government assistance other than she doesn't want to work and wants something for nothing; and I'm being treated like a criminal deadbeat dad by the state.
They are going to ask you questions like….
1. What is the first thing you would do if we tell you we want to move the server to New York City?
As a deployment tech, you need to know how to answer any and all questions about moving electronic systems to new locations.
I feel that in math has a natural way of separating the good students in the higher level classes and lower level classes. This is a problem that also groups the “behavior”problem students into the same classes with the lower level classes. What you get is low level students in the classes with behavior problem students that aren't low level just low motivation that disrupt the lass for the lower level students. If you can't follow me, what my point is, is that some times the students are segregated even though they don't do it on purpose.
Cognitive comes from the word cognition….cognition means how a person's mind thinks. Or simply saying the nature of intelligence of that person….so ur thesis would be studying the effects of air conditioners in the thinking and analytical process of the students..i.e. in short u have to research that are they better without them or does the a.c. makes them dull and lazy…do u get it…hope this info helps u….have a nice day…..take care!! ^_^
Sven,
Not so! The 22nd Amendment says: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.” If Bartlett were chosen by the House as V.P. after Santos was elected, he would even be eligible to ascend to the presidency again. The only thing he could not do is be ELECTED again. Becoming President upon the death of President Santos would be permitted.
Bartlett for Vice-President!!!
Whatever justification could there be for another thesis on Paul’s. relationship to … slipped through the net and failed to receive adequate treatment in …

The US has two parks with “glacier” in the title. You are writing about Glacier Bay National Park, but the second paragraph has Glacier National Park and the photo is of Glacier National Park. This park is in Montana and its glaciers are known to be melting and in peril.
Glacier Bay National Park, with the whales, glaciers and northern lights is in Alaska in the Southeast Panhandle. It has 13 tidewater glaciers fed by the massive Brady Glacier. They are dynamic and some are advancing and others are retreating. I hope you can visit them!
There is a portion of this video missing, where can the whole thing be viewed?
Depends. Is this food still in a box and you have to make it? Then it will be fine. It will be fine if it's been in the freezer until now. If it's only refrigerated, then, no, I wouldn't eat it.
I enjoy the song and pine for musicians and directors to break new ground in music videos. Check out the video “mors ontologica - the party” for an example of risk taking in the genre.

[God says:] “And ‘We hv enjoined upon humans goodness towards his parents: his mother bore him by bearing strain upon strain, & his utter dependence on her lasted two years (the period of a child’s utter dependence on its mother): [hence, O Humans,] be grateful towards Me & towards thy parents, [and remember that] with Me is all journeys’ end.”
Re: “Obama Files has info and a link that shows there was no OBAMA child born in Hawaii in the time claimed.”
Obama files has speculation, based on weak facts, that there was no Obama. The officials in Hawaii have confirmed repeatedly that there is an Obama file and that it was created in 1961, when he was born, and that the original document in the file shows that Obama was born in Hawaii.
